Trip to Kerry, 24th Sept., Reeks walk.
See details from our guide Tim for this years trip to Kerry to do the MacGillycuddy's Reeks walk.
The route starts in Glencar (near Lough Acoose) and finishes at Kate Kearney's Cottage.
It is 11 miles approx with a good share of climbing(1700m of ascent) so a good level of fitness is required.
It will take around 8 hours at an average pace. Make sure all your group is equipped with good boots and rain gear.
We will have to arrange a bus to take us to the start so come back to me when you have a definite number.
We will most likely be based in Killarney, which has ample accommodation.
We normally repay Tim and Felicia for their efforts with a donation to their charity, the Donkey Sanctuary.

Slieve League is pretty well due west of Donegal town and won't be nearly such a long drive home as last year. The cliffs are arguably the highest in Europe..although some Mayo people disagree!!!

Accommodation options :
Michael McGarrigle who will be leading our walk on Saturday, is
chairman of the Breesy Centre, a community owned accommodation provider,
situated about 8 miles from Donegal Town. They can offer a rate of €45
per person for Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Rooms are en suite. Dinner on
Saturday night would be something like a choice of roast beef or salmon
with a starter, sweet and coffee. There would be a full Irish breakfast
on Sunday morning. It is licenced and there is a lovely little country
pub across the road which has music on Saturday nights (famed for the
fact that this is where Tony Blair says he tasted his first Guinness!!).
You can check this out on Breesy Centre
There are other accommodation options from B and B's to hotels available in Donegal town.
Whatever your choice, please get in touch with Ann if you are travelling.
